Technicians — and anyone else who works on jobs — live in the Team & Assets module. Adding someone takes about 30 seconds and is the prerequisite for them showing up on the dispatch board.
Open Team & Assets
From the module navigator, click Team & Assets. You'll land on the Team Overview, which shows total team members, how many are dispatchable, and how many have login access. The top right toggles between People and Assets.
Add a new team member
Click the blue + Add Team Member button (top right of the People view). The form has these fields:
- Name (required)
- Job Role (required) — pulled from Settings & Admin → Roles & Access → Job Roles. The built-in roles are Field Technician, Lead Technician, Apprentice, Dispatcher, and Office Administrator. You can add your own.
- Email (required) and Phone (required).
- Address — optional, useful for routing.
- Employment Status — defaults to Active.
- Hire Date (required) — defaults to today.
Assign skills
Scroll down to Skills & Specialties. Skills are grouped by trade (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical), and you can tick checkboxes for what the technician is qualified to do — Refrigerant Handling (EPA 608), Electrical Diagnostics, Furnace/Boiler Repair, AC & Heat Pump Service, and so on. The cert badge next to a skill means it's a tracked certification.
Skills matter because they're linked to Job Types in Settings. A job type that requires Refrigerant Handling (EPA 608) will only suggest techs who have that skill on file. Get this right at setup and the scheduler will work smarter.
Login access
Job roles like Field Technician and Lead Technician are Dispatchable, meaning they'll appear as a row on the Live Dispatch board. To give a team member access to log into WowServe (mobile or web), they'll get a Login badge on their card — this is provisioned automatically for dispatchable roles. Office staff who need access but don't work on jobs are set up through the same flow.
